COSIA Land Challenge

Reducing Seismic Explorations Footprint

COSIA has partnered with Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre to launch an open innovation competition, seeking seismic exploration technologies that reduce the environmental impacts of oil sands exploration. Funded by Alberta Innovates, the competition features the ongoing COSIA Land Challenge—Reducing Seismic Exploration’s Footprint. 

Two Canadian companies have emerged as winners. Full Force Geophysical Ltd. has the winning solution and will receive a $10,000 cash prize. OptiSeis Solutions Ltd. is the runner-up, taking home $5,000. An honourable mention goes to a joint submission from Halliburton and Strat-Log Inc.

Our Environmental Technology Assessment Portal (E-TAP) provides an effective means to tap into the global environmental sector for solutions to current and future technology gaps and opportunities. If you have a technology idea you would like to submit on a non-confidential basis to COSIA for consideration then we invite you to submit your idea. 

XPRIZE: Converting carbon into everyday products

The $20-million NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE is a global competition to develop breakthrough technologies that will convert CO2 emissions into valuable products like building materials, alternative fuels and other items that we use every day.
