COSIA Innovation Summit 2015
The first COSIA Innovation Summit will take place from March 31 to April 2, 2015, at the Banff Springs Hotel. Building on the success of the COSIA Water Conference last March, the Innovation Summit will provide an opportunity for COSIA member companies to showcase the good technical work being done within COSIA to “accelerate the pace of environmental performance improvement in the oil sands.”
COSIA’s four Environmental Priority Areas (EPAs), Land, Water, Tailings and Greenhouse Gases, as well as the Monitoring Priority Area, will host concurrent sessions over three days. COSIA will also host a keynote speaker and panel discussion to complement the content of the event. The event will be held biennially, allowing in-depth, EPA-specific conferences like the COSIA Water Conference to be held in the alternating years.
The conference planning committee is currently ironing out the details and is hopeful to launch the event in the coming weeks. Part of the event launch will include an ”open call for abstracts” to academia, government and industry. If selected, presenters will be invited to either give a presentation during one of the sessions or present at the poster sessions scheduled for March 31 and April 1.
“Given the quality of submissions received for the Water Conference, the content for the Innovation Summit promises to be just as compelling,” says John Brogly, Director, Water EPA for COSIA.
